Our Location - Felixstowe
Felixstowe is situated on the Suffolk coast between the estuaries of the rivers Deben and Orwell.
The Resort faces almost due south and the display of flowers in the spa gardens, on the seafront and cliff are witness to this sunny and sheltered aspect. Historically it has a record for high sunshine levels and low rainfall.
A promenade, almost two miles in length follows the sweep of the bay and is bordered for most of its length by award winning gardens. The promenade is outlined at night by attractive lighting. Strategically placed seats are there for visitors to relax in the sun or in shade.
Situated at the mouth of the Deben is the Sailing Club and Golf Course whilst at the Orwell is situated the thriving Port and its viewing area which allows visitors the unique opportunity to observe the working of a modern container port.
Felixstowe is ideally situated for exploring Suffolk, its coast and hinterland. Within a few miles is East Bergholt, birthplace of John Constable, Flatford Mill and the beautiful valley of the Stour. Whilst a few miles into central Suffolk lies the wool town of Lavenham with its many medieval buildings, Kersey with its pretty ford and Long Melford (now a big antiques centre). Further up the coast through Woodbridge is the National Trust's famous Sutton Hoo exhibition Centre and Anglo-Saxon burial ground. Other resorts such as Aldeburgh (home and workplace of the composer Benjamin Britten), Walberswick and Southwold are also close by.
This part of Suffolk is well served with some of the most attractive and interesting paths for the rambler to explore. There is a cycle route traversing some of its most attractive areas.
